Preach the Word

Preaching the Word is at the heart of our mission to evangelize and strengthen souls in the Catholic faith.

Faith comes from hearing and hearing about the preaching of Christ. (Romans 10:17)

Preaching the Word is at the heart of our mission to evangelize and strengthen souls in the Catholic faith - the Word of God, the Sacraments, Eucharistic Adoration, and devotion to Mother Mary. Like the mission entrusted to St. Paul, we have a special mission to announce God's Message without adulteration as a proven worker, in all faithfulness, and as those found worthy to be entrusted with the Gospel.(1Thessalonians 2:4; 2Timothy 4:1-5; 2Corinthians 2:17; 2Timothy 2:15)

We carry out the mission through different forms of preaching:

Preaching the Word of God during faith formation programmes or parish retreats

In various prayer groups, prayer meetings, or parish associations

We preach to all age groups:

Married couples and families to strengthen family life

Youth (young adults) to help them discern their vocation

Young children to bring them up in the faith so that they may know and love God

The religious who work in the parish

Lead to the Sacraments

An important mission of our Community is to lead people to the Sacraments.

I am the Vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in Me, with Me in him, bears fruit in plenty; for cut off from Me, you can do nothing. John 15:5

An important mission of our Community is to lead people to the Sacraments. Through the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist Christ gives His followers the grace to be reconciled with God and remain united with Him at all times. (2 Corinthians 5:19-20)

We help people to prepare wholeheartedly for the Sacrament of Reconciliation so that they may experience freedom from their sins. (Proverbs 28:13; 1 John 1:8-10; John 20:23)

We encourage them to frequently and devoutly participate in the celebration of the Holy Mass and to worthily receive the Body and Blood of Christ. (John 6:54-56)

Defend True Doctrine

An important part of our ministry is to preach the unadulterated Word of God. (2Corinthians 2:17)

But you must keep steady all the time; put up with suffering; do the work of preaching the gospel; fulfil the service asked of you. (2 Timothy 4:5)

Proclaim the message and, welcome or unwelcome, insist on it. Refute falsehood, correct error, give encouragement - but do all with patience and with care to instruct. The time is sure to come when people will not accept sound teaching, but their ears will be itching for anything new and they will collect for themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes; and then they will shut their ears to the truth and will turn to myths. (2Timothy 4:2-4)

An important part of our ministry is to preach the unadulterated Word of God. (2Corinthians 2:17)

The Word of God is the truth which sets all men free. (John 17:17; John 8:32)

Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI quoted during his speech to the Cardinals at the Conclave:

Today, having a clear faith based on the Creed of the Church is often labeled as fundamentalism. Whereas relativism, that is, letting oneself be “tossed here and there, carried about by every wind of doctrine” (Ephesians 4:14), seems the only attitude that can cope with modern times.

Our Mission in these modern times is to remain in, proclaim and defend the unchanging and true doctrine of the Catholic Church and to refute all false teachings and ideologies. (2 Thessalonians 2:15; 2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

Lead to the Light

The Word of God is the real light. Our mission is to preach and allow the Light of the Gospel to shine through us so that people can see clearly the path to take in following Christ. (Isaiah 49:6)

The Word was the real light that gives light to everyone; He was coming into the world. (John 1:9)

The Word of God is the real light. Our mission is to preach and allow the Light of the Gospel to shine through us so that people can see clearly the path to take in following Christ. (Isaiah 49:6)

But get up and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this reason: to appoint you as my servant and as witness of this vision in which you have seen me, and of others in which I shall appear to you. I shall rescue you from the people and the nations to whom I send you to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light, from the dominion of Satan to God, and receive, through faith in me, forgiveness of their sins and a share in the inheritance of the sanctified. (Acts 26:16-18)

Jesus’ words to Paul, “I am sending you to open their eyes” have great significance in today’s world which stands in need of a fresh proclamation of the Word of God. Spiritual blindness is one of the greatest effects of the sin that marks the human race. (Luke 24:16)

If our Gospel seems to be veiled at all, it is so to those who are on the way to destruction, the unbelievers whose minds have been blinded by the god of this world, so that they cannot see shining the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

Holy men and women of all ages have called out to Jesus, the Light of the world, to give light to their eyes. It is by the power of His Word that God scattered the darkness which clouded their intellect and enabled them to perceive the clear light of His Gospel. (Psalms 119:105; 130)

Saint Francis of Assisi prayed before the Crucifix of San Damiano, “Most High, Glorious God, enlighten the darkness of my mind, give me right faith, a firm hope and perfect charity, so that I may always and in all things act according to Your Holy Will. Amen.”

Pope John XXIII prayed during the start of his priestly life, ‘O Lord, listen to this blind man who calls out to You as You pass by, and implores You to help him, You Who are indeed the Light of my eyes! Give me light that I may see: “Lord, that I may see!”’

Preaching the Word, holding on to it and proferring to the world the Word of life are some of the ways in which we carry out our mission to be a light for the people around us. (Philippians 2:14-16)

Strengthen Families

By planting the seeds of the Love of God, devotion to Christ, love for one another, generosity and responsibility in love, we give great importance to preserving the Christian family as one of the most important of all vocations.

“And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace that has power to build you up and to give you your inheritance among all the sanctified.” (Acts 20:32)

As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfelt compassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord has forgiven you; now you must do the same. Over all these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond. (Colossians 3:12-14)

We have a great mission to work among Christian families by reinforcing the bond between husbands and wives, parents and children in the love of Christ, which binds all things together in perfect unity. By planting the seeds of the Love of God, devotion to Christ, love for one another, generosity and responsibility in love, we give great importance to preserving the Christian family as one of the most important of all vocations.

Deliverance

Our preaching of the Word of God is aimed at delivering God’s children from the bondage of the Evil One, bringing them to repentance and a clear faith in Jesus Christ. (Mark 1:15)

Whoever lives sinfully belongs to the Devil, since the Devil has been a sinner from the beginning. This was the purpose of the appearance of the Son of God, to undo the work of the Devil. (1 John 3:8)

Our preaching of the Word of God is aimed at delivering God’s children from the bondage of the Evil One, bringing them to repentance and a clear faith in Jesus Christ. (Mark 1:15)

The Word of Christ when spoken in the Spirit has tremendous power to free listeners from all bondages. (Matthew 8:16)

The Word of Christ shatters the chains of sin, depression and sickness which holds people captive and help them to experience the freedom of the children of God. (Psalms 107:16-20; Romans 8:14-17; John 8:34-36)

The Lord Jesus instructed His disciples to free people from the power of the Evil One. For this reason He gave them the gift of deliverance and commisioned them to use it boldly to spread the Kingdom of God. (Luke 11:20; Mark 3:14-15; Matthew 10:8; Luke 9:1)

Using the weapons of prayer and fasting (Mark 9:29), humility (James 4:6-8) and holiness (Wisdom 5:19), we aim to be good instruments of the Lord for delivering ourselves and our brothers and sisters from the power of the Evil One. (1 John 5:18-19)
